Mitron app overtook TikTok with more than 50 lakh downloads in a month time of its launch.
Home-based TikTok competitor Mitron app crossed more than 50 lakh downloads in just a month time of its launch. Mitron is one of the top 10 apps on Google Play store. At first glimpse, the app looks a bit similar to TikTok. Some may be mistaken it as TikTok and not the 'desi' kind of it. While the features are bit identical, the Mitron app still has a long way to go to leave behind TikTok at its own game considering its vast user base in India. Here Mitron is compared to TikTok.
Mitron is available only on Android and not iOS
The Mitron app is not yet available for iPhone users. It is only available for Android users, maybe due to the massive popularity of Android in the country. Whereas TikTok is available on both platforms.
Mitron app is smaller than TikTok
The Mitron app is around 8 MB in size whereas TikTok app is sized around 74MB.
Mitron Interface is similar to TikTok
The interface and navigation buttons are very similar to TikTok with the options like Home, Discover, Inbox and Profile. TikTok has a '+' icon, Mitron has a video camera icon which allows users to post content by clicking it.
Mitron Tune icon is still not functional
TikTok's most remarkable feature is,' Tune' with a spinning record. The feature that shows up all videos which have got the same music. While on Mitron app the spinning record icon is there but it is not functional yet.
You need Gmail ID to sign in Mitron
TikTok gives you a range of sign-in options, Mitron allows to sign-in only using your Google account. You can also browse through content without signing in as well.
Other similar features
Mitron allows users to record and post videos of up to 18 seconds. One can also upload videos with the same time limit. You need to double-tap to like a video like in TikTok and also save a video that you like directly on your device. Videos on Mitron app can be shared on other platforms as well from the app itself.
