Del City has found its next head baseball coach.

Former Tuttle star outfielder Corey Hawk was hired as head coach of Del City on Friday morning.

“I am humbled and blessed to have the opportunity to join the Del City staff and community,” Hawk told The Oklahoman. “I am excited to bring my energy and passion to the long list of great coaches and people that make up the Eagle family.”

Hawk is succeeding coach Ricky Hammer.

This is Hawk’s first opportunity to lead a high school baseball program. He has been coaching baseball, football and wrestling at Choctaw since 2017. He began coaching at Harrah high school in 2016 when he was the assistant baseball coach.

Hawk graduated from Tuttle high school in 2008. As a left fielder, he helped the Tigers advance to three Class 4A state title appearances, winning the 2006 state championship his sophomore season. He was a member of The Oklahoman’s Little All-City first team in 2008.

He played outfield at Connors State College for one year before transferring to Central Oklahoma in 2010.
