Liverpool urged to meet Timo Werner release clause and sign "best talent in Europe"
by Alex Richards, https://www.facebook.com/AARichards/Liverpool's interest in Timo Werner is on hold unless RB Leipzig are willing to negotiate a lower fee than their £52million release clause.
But the Reds have been told that they should do whatever is necessary to land the "best talent in Europe".
Germany striker Werner has been red hot for RBL this season and is highly regarded by Jurgen Klopp.
But Mirror Football understands that amid the current financial situation across world football, the Reds have withdrawn completely from any talks over the striker, and will not pursue his signature.
That is, unless Leipzig will drop below the player's £52million release clause - which only runs until June 15.
The two clubs have a good relationship, so it is possible, despite the hard line stance adopted by RBL CEO Oliver Mintzlaff.
“It won’t get any cheaper. We will not sell a player below value if he is under contract for more than a year," he stated.
"In general, we always ask the question: can we replace a player if we sell him for less than his market value?"
Leipzig boss Julian Nagelsmann believes Werner has become a more adept, more dangerous all-round forward this season, during which he has bagged 30 goals in 39 club games.

"He is good enough for Liverpool, and as with any team, when the best talent in Europe is available, they have to go for him," he said on Sky Sports .
"If you see Timo Werner this year, with Julien Nagelsmann, this big prospect of managers, he has turned him into a more complete player.
"He is now going deeper, a more complete player, and Nagelsmann should be proud of that.
"Timo Werner said if he will leave RB Leipzig, it will be abroad.
"Do I think he will go to Liverpool? It is hard to say in these times, as RB Leipzig's CEO said there is no chance you will get a cut price for Timo Werner.
"But let's be honest, if Liverpool want a player, they will get that player!"
Inter Milan have admitted defeat in their attempt to lure him to Italy.
Sporting director Pietro Ausilio said on Friday" “Timo Werner will not come to Inter. I know his opinion about his future and we’ll not sign him.
"I love him as a player but we’ve never started talks to sign Werner”.
