Body of young man who disappeared into the sea in Portimão found

The body of the young man who disappeared into the sea on Tuesday in Prainha, in Alvor (Portimão) was found this morning by a team of divers.

According to commander Rodrigo Gonzalez dos Paços, the body of the young man, who was 25 years old, was detected at 8.30 am, "submerged and stuck in the rock".

Searches to find the young man were resumed at sunrise, for the fourth consecutive day, with search teams from the Maritime Police, the Ferragudo lifeboat and the Portimão volunteer firefighters, supported by boats and a drone.

According to Rodrigo Gonzalez dos Paços, the authorities will now "accompany and give psychological support to the family", with the body being sent to the Legal Medicine office of Portimão Hospital.

The young man disappeared into the sea on Tuesday morning, while trying to rescue a 65-year-old man who died.
