PSL Teams to Return To Training Next Week?

by

The Premier Soccer League is yet to officially communicate their plans for the resumption of the 2019/20 season, but according to Siya sources, clubs are already underway with preparations to return to training.

As reported by the Siya crew yesterday, the PSL executive committee convened for yet another round of meetings, in order to make a decision regarding the return of football during the COVID-19 pandemic.

However, another meeting is to be held next week with the Joint Liason Committee, with indications that the public might finally receive an official update thereafter.

The South African government confirmed this week that during level 3 of the nationwide lockdown, only non-contact sport would be allowed, which means that football is still prohibited until communicated otherwise.

In the interim, the Siya crew has been informed by two different sources that some teams in the top flight are preparing to return to field training as early as next week.

While the important protocols are yet to communicated, sources have indicated that once they are given the green light to return to training, they will do so in smaller groups instead of the entire team together.

However, without jumping the gun, teams are expected to wait for official communication from the PSL and will continue with their current programs in the meantime.
