An aide to the Nigerian president, Garba Shehu, has said neither the APC nor President Muhammadu Buhari can be associated with fake promises.

Shehu made the statement when responding to the questions from the Daily Trust about Buhari’s performance in his fifth year in office.

The senior special assistant to the president in a mail dismissed claims by analysts that the APC is a party with fake promises, arguing that Buhari and his party cannot be associated with bogus pledges.

Shehu pointed out that the president is delivering on his key pledges and promises of rebuilding Nigeria from the ground up.

He stated that the Buhari administration since 2015 has been laying the foundation for a greater Nigeria, pointing out that the lasting changes take time.

"Nobody can look at what we have done since 2015 and associate “fake promises” with the APC or the Buhari administration," Shehu said.

In another report, Laolu Akande, the spokesperson of Nigeria's vice president has faulted reports in some sections of the media some time ago that some aides in the office of Professor Yemi Osinbajo were sacked.

Akande while speaking on a popular interactive radio programme tagged “Have Your Say”. in Abuja on Thursday, May 28, said, “nobody in the office of the vice president was sacked.

The vice president's spokesperson also revealed that President Muhammadu Buhari-led administration has constantly maintained a proper interaction with Nigerians in the implementation of its policies.

He added that the masses are being properly served through the numerous government programmes which remain a key strategy of the Buhari administration.

Meanwhile, Vice President Yemi Osinbajo has said Nigeria has been presented an unprecedented opportunity to reset critical sectors of its economy as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic.

Osinbajo revealed this during a virtual media conference on Thursday, May 14, where the Global Citizen, announced a collaboration with the Nigeria Sovereign Investment Authority (NSIA) to establish the Nigeria Solidarity Support Fund.

The vice president on described the initiative as a creative, forward-looking and thoughtful response to the challenge facing the country due to the pandemic.
