Phillip Schofield slams 'stupid' Donald Trump for disinfectant comment

While he has defended his comment, Phillip Schofield has sparked Ofcom complaints over something he said about Donald Trump.

Phillip reacted to the US president declaring to the press that he was taking anti-malarial drug hydroxychloroquine in a bid to ward off the virus on an episode of This Morning last week.

A clip was played of Trump saying he takes the medication and he's "still here", to which Phillip responded "sadly, Donald Trump is still here".

After the passing comment shockd some viewers, Phillip clarified what he meant, taking to Twitter to defiantly post: "Still in OFFICE!! Not still alive FFS!!!"

However, his defence wasn't enough to satisfy some This Morning viewers, with broadcasting regulator Ofcom revealing to The Sun, that of the 51 complaints made about the May 19 episode " the majority are about Phillip's comments about Donald Trump."

Reacting to Phillip's comment on Twitter, one unimpressed viewer wrote: "If you wanted it in the context of how you said it, it would be “he’s still there” implying he’s still in office. But we all knew you meant the first one, don’t backtrack now," and another tweeted: "If you wanted it in the context of how you said it, it would be “he’s still there” implying he’s still in office. But we all knew you meant the first one, don’t backtrack now."

However, other people have defended Phillip, with one reacting: "People sadly hear what they want I hear not always what is said. Says more about them than you," and another posting: "Omg people have no idea. It was obvious you meant in office. If people look to be offended then they will be."
