Hideo Kojima says that the recent Metal Gear Solid & Silent Hill IP acquisition rumors are false

by

A rumor surfaced back in March 2020, suggesting that Kojima Productions and Sony were planning to acquire the IP rights of Metal Gear Solid and Silent Hill. Konami acted quickly and denied those rumors in a matter of days. And, today, Hideo Kojima has once again debunked those rumors.

When asked about the Metal Gear Solid and Silent Hill IP acquisitions, Kojima had this to say.

“Ah, that’s completely false. I haven’t heard anything about it at least.”

So there you have it everyone, straight from Kojima himself.

To be honest, this does not really surprise us. After all, Konami had no reason at all to lie about this whole thing. Not only that, but it wouldn’t make any sense – business-wise – to sell the IP of these franchises.

Now this does not rule out the possibility of a future collaboration between Sony and Konami. As we’ve already reported, Sony may be working on a new Silent Hill game with Konami. However, that game will not be developed by Kojima Productions. Moreover, Sony will not purchase the Silent Hill IP. Instead, Konami will allow Sony to develop a new Silent Hill game for the Playstation.

Lastly, Kojima stated that the team is currently working on the PC version of Death Stranding. Moreover, Kojima is working on his next game, which is currently in a planning phase.
