Lidl issues warning over fraudulent competition

The con gets people to pay to enter a fictitious contest

Budget supermarket chain Lidl has issued a warning to customers over a fraudulent competition.

The German retailer says it is trying to get the competition removed, but in the meantime is urging customers to be aware and not to fall for the scam.

The con gets people to pay to enter a fictitious contest - and is nothing to do with Lidl.

Taking to social media, a Lidl spokesman said: "We've been informed that a fraudulent Lidl competition has been circulating the internet and they are charging participants to enter.

"We are working hard to get this taken down ASAP, but please be alert to any suspicious competitions or giveaways claiming to come from us.

"Any authentic Lidl competitions will only be advertised from our official channels. Thank you, Lidl GB
