A carer has told how a drunk thug left her covered in blood with a horrific head wound after smashing a bottle full of beer over her head after she turned down his advances at a funeral.
Yavana Dix, 21, suffered horrendous injuries when Jamie Simpson, 30, attacked her at a wake party near her house in the Lake area of the Isle of Wight on December 20.
After bottling her, Simpson, who was a lifelong family friend, went on the run for nearly two weeks until he was caught by police.
He pleaded guilty to grievous bodily harm without intent at Isle of Wight Crown Court yesterday and will be sentenced on July 9.
Miss Dix, who has a two-year-old son called Cory and is a carer for disabled people, said Simpson had been hitting on her all day at her neighbour's mother's funeral.
She kept rejecting his advances but he became more aggressive at the wake and then at a party near her house that night as he drank more alcohol.
When the party ended everyone was turfed out and Miss Dix was left with Simpson and two friends outside her house as they waited for a taxi for 45 minutes.
The mates asked if they could shelter from the rain at Miss Dix's, but she said Simpson was not invited.
The thug then grabbed an unopened beer bottle and slammed it into her face, splitting her forehead through her eyebrow 'down to the bone'.
Miss Dix told MailOnline: 'He came running over to me, trying to shout in my face and I pushed him away and said get away from me, you're really angry right now and I don't know what you're going to do.
'He picked up a full bottle and just smashed it over my face and said ''have that you c***''.
'I opened my eyes, lying on the floor, and it's just this pool of blood and he's still standing over me.'
She added: 'To be fair, I didn't really think or know what to think at the time. It was ovbiously a bit of shock, with so many people there.
'By the time I got up there was already the police and ambulance there so I didn't really have time to process it.
'It was all a bit of a blur at the time but obviously as I come round a bit I was like wow, what happened.'
Her family made a makeshift bandage to dress the cut and waited for an ambulance to St Mary's Hospital, where she was given six stitches above her eye and stayed overnight.
Miss Dix said Simpson tried to apologise to her, but she told him to leave and he went on the run for '12 days'.
She was given poles to barricade the doors of her two-bedroom house and handed a rape alarm to protect herself in this period.
The single mother said that she found the time terrifying as she was living alone with her son.
The vicious attack came just four days after Simpson had been in the pub with the victim's father and sent her a selfie of them enjoying a pint together.
The thug had previously been at school with Miss Dix's brother Sean and her sisters too.
But she said the relationship between the two families has now ended and she wants him to keep away when he gets out of prison.
She said: 'I would never speak to him again. I have requested for an injunction to be in place for when he is released from prison because obviously he knows my address.
'He lives nearby and is friends with my neighbours and I don't want him there.'
The shocking attack severely affected Miss Dix's mother Denise Robinson, who now will not let her go out without texting her and knowing where she is.
Miss Dix said despite it cutting her down to her skull, the gash has healed well and she uses makeup to cover it.
She said she has not told Cory the true story of how it happened - saying she fell over in the garden - but will tell him when he is older.
Simpson has been in custody since his arrest '12 days' after the vicious attack, and will remain in custody until he is sentenced on July 9.
He admitted the December 20 offence via video link at Isle of Wight Crown Court yesterday.
