Jesus Corona's agent confirms Chelsea transfer talks

The agent of Jesus Corona has confirmed talks have taken place with Chelsea with a view to a potential summer transfer.

Chelsea offered one-year extensions to Olivier Giroud and Willy Caballero last week but their two most experienced wingers, Willian and Pedro, still appear destined to leave at the end of the season once their contracts expire.

Frank Lampard is said to be an admirer of Borussia Dortmund star Jadon Sancho, a boyhood Chelsea fan, but the Bundesliga club’s £120million asking price is likely to force the Blues to look elsewhere.

Reports earlier this week claimed Chelsea had identified Porto winger Corona as a potential alternative and his representative, Matias Bunge has revealed discussions have already taken place.

‘At some point we talked to them. I cannot say if he’s option A, B or C, now they are rather rumours, Matias Bunge told Medio Tiempo.

‘We’ll have to wait a bit for this to continue moving forward and for the leagues to begin again, and from there see what the next movements will be because the market is a little bit stopped.

‘He has two years left on his contract. He did awaken a lot of interest for his participation in this particular tournament [Primera Liga], which has been outstanding and at a high level.

‘But now with the current situation of the virus everything has slowed down a bit, now the signings are in quarantine.’

Corona could represent a direct replacement for Willian who remains in a state of limbo with Chelsea refusing to offer him the three-year contract he desires.

‘It’s a difficult situation because Chelsea offered me two years and they are not going to change what they offered. I said I wanted three more years,’ the winger told Brazilian outlet Esporte Interativo last week.

‘The situation is difficult because of this. I really don’t know if it will be possible [to stay]. ‘My goal is to continue working and focus on the remainder of the season, so that Chelsea can continue winning games.

‘I have a clear head and I’m focused for the rest of the season that we have left. I think it’s difficult [to stay]. Let’s see what happens.’
