Ukraine 2020/21 soybeans crop, export seen rising -traders union

KIEV, May 29 (Reuters) - Ukraine is likely to increase its soybeans harvest and exports in the 2020/21 season due to a higher yield, grain traders union UGA said on Friday.

Ukraine is a traditional soybeans exporter but this week made its first soybeans imports in many years and industry sources said such deals could be repeated in future if domestic output continues to shrink.

UGA said in a report Ukraine was likely to harvest 4.225 million tonnes of soybeans this year, up from 3.713 million in 2019.

The yield could rise to 2.5 tonnes per hectare from 2.35 tonnes.

The union said higher output would help Ukraine to increase exports to 2.7 million tonnes in 2020/21 season from 2.675 million expected for the current season.

UGA said Ukraine in the 2020/21 season could keep its rapeseed exports at the previous season's level of 3 million tonnes despite a fall in output to 3.325 million tonnes from 3.380 million in 2019. (Reporting by Pavel Polityuk; editing by Jason Neely)
