And the crowd goes WILD: NRL fans make it into Bankwest Stadium... sort of

NRL fans forced their way into Bankwest Stadium on Friday night to get a glimpse of the Rabbitohs v Roosters blockbuster.

Well... sort of. OK, not really.

Rugby league supporters were given the opportunity to fork out $22 and have a life-size cardboard cut-out placed in the grandstand to support their team.

The “Fan in the Stand” initiative is a way to get a crowd at the footy during the coronavirus lockdown, which has prevented fans from attending NRL games.

The initiative follows one from NRL broadcasters Fox Sports and Channel 9 to pump fake crowd noise into the coverage, which was received well by fans on Thursday night.
