Hundreds of topless youths surrounded by knickers and bottles at waterfall 'rave'

Hundreds of youths were spotted holding a Bank Holiday "rave" at a waterfall, discarding knickers, nappies and bottles, much to the disgust of locals.

The waterfall at Beck Hole was inundated with youngsters flouting lockdown and social distancing rules, causing residents to take to social media to voice their anger.

The nearby village of Goathland, not far from Whitby, in Yorkshire and famed for its starring role in British police drama Heartbeat had people flocking to it during the scorching weather on Monday.

One witness described the door to the disabled toilets broken into at a community hub, the bus shelter and churchyard being used as a toilet, and bottles and knickers discarded, Teesside Live reports.

On Facebook a man expressed his anger at having to spend hours cleaning up rubbish.

He wrote: "I've spent two hours with my wife clearing rubbish and we have hardly made a dent in it.

"This is heart breaking to see people destroying the village we love."

One of the brazen partygoers boasted "every man and his dog out today" in a video showing scores of people basking in the sun at Beck Hole waterfall, as the country continues its battle against the coronavirus.

Goathland Community Hub tweeted: "Thanks to the people who broke the door down to get into the disabled toilets, to whoever it was who used the bus shelter as a toilet, to those who used the churchyard and people’s gardens and all of you who have left bags, bottles, tins, nappies, knickers etc at Thomason Foss."

One Twitter user added: "That's disgraceful, how people can be so thoughtless.

"They should be ashamed of themselves, they wouldn't like it being done where they live."

One person claimed hundreds of youths had gathered for "a rave".

It's been claimed 35 rubbish bags were filled with litter after volunteers were forced to clean up the mess.

The vile scenes happened on the same day swathes of people descended on nearby Richmond Falls, leaving a disgraceful amount of rubbish behind.

A group of revellers were slammed for partying and "acting like it's Ocean Beach" in Ibiza.

Afterwards, it's claimed rubbish, including glass bottles and what appears to be laughing gas cannisters, was left strewn all over the beauty spot, which is a common day trip destination for Teessiders.

Volunteers said the vile mess took around three hours to clear up.

In footage posted on social media, people could be seen huddled together in close quarters while dance music played on a speaker.

While some lockdown measures have been relaxed, many remain in place, including not meeting up with more than one person, which must be outside, and remaining two metres apart.
