Maxus releases teaser of next generation pick-up concept

Maxus has an all-new pick-up coming this year

by

There's a new pick-up coming to town, and it will come from Maxus. No, we're not talking about the Maxus T60 that was recently launched in the Philippine market.

The Chinese automaker is set to unveil an all-new light duty hauler soon, and it looks like it's sporting a radically different design.

It's a teaser for now and Maxus hasn't mentioned any release date for the pick-up just yet. The new model wasn't even given a name, so it is possible that it will replace the T60. By the looks of it though, the yet-to-be-named pick-up is set to compete in the mid-size pick-up market. If so, it's set to go up against the likes of the Toyota Hilux, Ford Ranger, and Isuzu D-Max.

As for the truck itself, it has a flat-looking front end with slim, high-set headlights. The hood appears to be that of a clamshell design, like many of its likeliest competitors. Fenders are flared out, which is typical in pick-ups, but the windshield looks more rakish for this kind of vehicle. Also, the rear pillar and door design aren't like other pick-ups with a more angular design. This particular preview sketch comes with a sports bar, but expect the production models not to have it fitted as standard.

Reports say that the all-new Maxus pick-up will be released sometime towards the end of the year. There are even rumors that it will have electric propulsion. However, there is little concrete proof to this claim, so we're more likely to see a very efficient turbodiesel under the hood. Once it's launched, this model would be an interesting addition to the local Maxus range. With the Hilux, D-Max, and Ranger getting refreshed or redesigned, this pick-up has some stiff competition ahead of it.
