WOLFF OF F1 STREET

The latest reports from the world of F1 continue to surround Mercedes and its team boss, Toto Wolff. Word is that Wolff is set to quit Mercedes before the start of the season amid a growing rift between himself and Daimler boss Ola Kallenius. Other reports suggest that he may stay on in an advisory role and maintain his 30% stake in the team while yet further speculation has him teaming up with Racing Point owner in transforming Mercedes into Aston Martin.

MYTWOCENTS VERDICT: That last one is a little too complicated to summarise here but we suggest watching this space as something is certainly brewing at Mercedes.

GREEN LIGHT FOR PROJECT RESTART BUT HOW WILL IT LOOK?

The biggest news to hit the sports wires over the past 24 hours is that 'Project Restart' has officially got the go-ahead to kick off on 17 June. There are so many variables and unforeseeables to consider but here are some of the main proposals that have been put forward: The remaining 92 games will be played over 39 days with the FA Cup final set for 1 August. The majority of clubs are committed to playing even if they have as many as 10 players out due to Covid-19, however should the season be curtailed, the final standings will be determined on a points-per-game basis. There will be a Friday night game, 4 back-to-back games on Saturdays and Sundays as well as one game on Mondays each week. Most games will be played at normal home and away grounds but certain high risk games will be played at neutral venues.

MYTWOCENTS VERDICT: Happy days are here again for footy fans! There are still plenty of hurdles to overcome so don't be surprised if a second wave puts a major spanner in the works. Because of the tight scheduling, all it would take is for one team to be forced to postpone for a week or two to send the fixture list spiralling out of control.

WHITE POURS COLD WATER ON PROPOSED MEGA-FIGHTS

UFC boss Dana White has iced hopes of a blockbuster heavyweight clash between bomber Francis Ngannou and UFC GOAT Jon "Bones" Jones.

“For the amount of money he was asking for, it’s not going to happen. He couldn’t be asking for a more absurd amount of money at a worse time,” said White.

The other proposed fight that was on everyone's lips was Conor McGregor v Anderson Silva after both seemed to agree on a fight over Twitter, but White was not too keen on that either.

“It’s not a fight that I’m interested in right now. Listen, everybody’s in quarantine, right? They can’t go to the gym. They can’t go to restaurants. So they sit on these stupid things all day,” said White referring to cellphones.

“I’m not interested in anybody right now for Conor. I think what works for Conor right now is for him to sit back and relax."

MYTWOCENTS VERDICT: McGregor has been linked to a fight with everyone and his dog recently ... just like Mike Tyson. Wait ... those two haven't been paired together yet. Should we start that rumour?
