Gbamin suffers serious injury

Everton midfielder Jean-Philippe Gbamin is expected to be ruled out for several months after he suffered an Achilles injury in training on Thursday.

The 24-year-old has played just 135 minutes for the Toffees since arriving from Mainz for £25m last summer and has spent much of the campaign recovering from a right quadriceps tendon injury which occurred in August and required surgery in February.

It was hoped Gbamin would be available to return when the Premier League resumed next month but his latest setback will keep him out for several months with Everton confirming the Ivory Coast international will once again need surgery.

Everton more valuable than Milan

Everton remain above AC Milan, Ajax and Benfica in the list of Europe's most valuable clubs, but the Toffees have slipped outside of the top 20.

KPMG's fifth annual report shows the Blues have an Enterprise Value (EV) of £452m, a 1.9 percent decrease from this time last year and only enough for 21st place in the rankings.

That is behind several Premier League sides, including West Ham United and Leicester City, but ahead of illustrious clubs on the continent.

The Enterprise Value of a club is calculated as the sum of the market value of the owners’ equity, plus total debt, less cash and cash equivalents.

KPMG states it indicates what the business is worth regardless of the capital structure used to finance operations.

Sky to show Merseyside derby for free

The Merseyside derby will be shown live on Sky Sports when the Premier League restarts next month.

It was announced yesterday (May 28) that the English top-flight expect to resume matches from June 17, with Aston Villa vs Sheffield United and Manchester City vs Arsenal kicking things off.

A full schedule of games will follow on the weekend of June 19-21, including the derby between Everton and Liverpool which could see the Reds clinch the title if Arsenal are able to overcome City.

With fans not allowed to attend games, the remaining 92 Premier League matches of the season will be shown live at staggered kick off times by the division’s broadcast partners: Sky Sports, BT Sport, BBC Sport and Amazon Prime.

Sky will air 64 of the 92 matches, with 25 to be shown on Freeview. The BBC, meanwhile, will show four Premier League games, the first time the corporation has broadcast live top-flight football since 1992.
