Australian Federal Police investigators seized a mobile phone during a search at a home in Brisbane.

The man has been charged with two counts of accessing child abuse material online, for which the maximum sentence is 15 years' jail if found guilty, and one count of possessing child exploitation material.

The inquiries were triggered by a referral from the National Centre for Missing and Exploited Children to the AFP-led Australian Centre to Counter Child Exploitation.

Detective Superintendent child protection operations Paula Hudson said the AFP was committed to reducing offending against children.

“Every time someone shares an image or video of child abuse they are committing a crime and contributing to the ongoing abuse of a child victim," she said.

“The ACCCE will continue to provide critical support to JACETs [Joint Anti Child Exploitation Teams] and non-government organisations to combat online child exploitation and we will not stop.”

Anyone with information about the possession or sharing of child exploitation material should call Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000 or report it via the ACCE website.

The 29-year-old is due to appear in the Brisbane Magistrates Court on Wednesday, August 19.
