Bocaue's Mayor Joni passes away

In an official statement, the JIL confirmed the untimely death of Bocaue Mayor Joni Villanueva-Tugna on Thursday afternoon due to sepsis secondary to bacterial pneumonia.
Mayor Joni is the daughter of House Deputy Speaker Bro. Eddie Villanueva who is also the founder of JIL and a younger sister of Senator Joel Villanueva. Her husband is former Citizens Battle Against Corruption (Cibac) Rep. Sherwin Tugna.
According to the JIL, as an Executive Director of the religious group, Mayor Jonie dreamed big dreams for God and the Ministry and worked day and night to bring those to fruition.
“In fact, she was the brains behind JIL’s many breakthrough programs, systems, structures and infrastructures, some of which include the establishment of JIL’s Executive Management Board and the renovation of Camp Praise Valley,”
Then, God led her to the path of public service. As Mayor of Bocaue, Bulacan she was also a pioneer and trailblazer ; innovative in her methods and humane in her actions.
“That is why our hearts are grieving that today, at 5:06 pm our dear Mayor Joni, because of sepsis secondry to bacterial pneumonia, has left this world and has come home to her Father,” the statement added.
Bro Eddie’s group asked supporters and friends to join them in praying and for the whole Villanueva family as they go through this emotional ordeal.
Just two months ago, her mother Sister Dory Villanueva died.
During the enhanced community quarantine, Mayor Joni was lauded for buying vegetables from Cordillera farmers and distribute them to her constituents
Mayor Joni learned that the farmers from the up north had difficulties in selling their goods because of quarantine rules.
