Arsenal reportedly unlikely to spend £20m on Nicolas Tagliafico this summer

The Argentine has been linked with a move to Arsenal.

A report from Football.London has poured cold water over Arsenal’s apparent interest in the Ajax left-back Nicolas Tagliafico.

It was recently suggested by The Sun that the Gunners could make a £20 million move for the 27-year-old Argentine international, who was promised a move away from current club Ajax twelve months ago.

The idea behind any deal would have been for Arsenal to then move current incumbent Bukayo Saka back into a wide-midfield role and give Kieran Tierney more competition at left-back and cover, considering the Scottish international’s injury troubles.

Arsenal were linked with Tagliafico last summer, before he was asked to play one more season in Amsterdam.

Now it seems they might actually get their man.

However, Football.London have suggested that no deal seems likely for the Argentine.

They claim that the move makes ‘little sense’ as Tagliafico would not be a sure starter and that, at 27, represents little resale value. Instead, they highlight January interest in PSG star Layvin Kurzawa as more likely,  considering his contract is expiring in the summer.

However, regarding Tagliafico, it would appear that Arsenal are unlikely to make a move for the Argentine given their current circumstances.
