MeECL oppose Electricity Bill, to supports protest

Employees and engineers of the Meghalaya Energy Corporation Limited (MeECL) has extended its support to the call of “national protest day” on June 1 against the Electricity (Amendment) Bill, 2020 and proposed privatisation of DISCOM.

In a letter to Chief Minister Conrad Sangma on Thursday, the All MeSEB Union and Associations Coordination Committee said the employees will wear black badges on June 1.

The Union and Committee has also sought the support of the Chief Minister to protest against the amendment to electricity bill to safeguard the interest of consumers in the state.
