Ahmedabad: 38-year-old woman's face smashed, body dumped in well

A 38-year-old widow living alone in a house at the family farm in Kasindra village of Ahmedabad district was murdered, suspectedly at her house. Her body was dumped in an abandoned well three farms away, with her head and eyes completely crushed by the killer. The Aslali police has registered a complaint of murder and has arrested three persons, one of whom allegedly used an axe to kill her.

Jashu Chunara, 32, a resident of Chunara Vaas in Ambli village of Ahmedabad district has registered a complaint against unknown person/s for the murder of his sister Shobhna (38) who lives alone at the Chunaras’ family farm at Kasindra village in a constructed room. Shobhna’s husband died four years ago Her daughter is married while her two sons aged 15 and 13 live with her mother at the Ambli village.

On Wednesday morning Jashu’s sister received a call from Shobhna’s neighbour that there was blood dripping out from under the main door of her house and she was not responding when they called out. Jashu’s relative called the Aslali police and they rushed to spot. When they opened the door they found blood on her bed that had dripped out of her house but she was not present. A search for her body ended at an abandoned well at a distance where she was packed in her mattress and flung into it. The police reached the spot and when her body was retrieved her head and her eyes were crushed.

Aslali PI R D Sagar said, “We have arrested three persons Paresh Chunara (21), Raju Thakor (38) and one another person whose age needs to be verified to check if he is a minor. Paresh Chunara had a fight with Shobhnaben after she accused him of stealing her speakers. The three had also accused her of having illicit relationship with others but not with them. We have arrested all three and have sent them for a covid test.”
