Emotional GMB hosts send love to Kate Garraway after she was pictured crying

Good Morning Britain host Ben Shephard was emotional on Friday as he gave viewers an update on the condition of co-host Kate Garraway's husband.

It was back at the end of March that it was first revealed that Kate's other half, former Labour MP Derek Draper, had been struck down by COVID-19 and has now been in a coma for weeks, with Kate and other family members unable to visit him.

Speaking after last week's Clap for Carers, Kate said: "... the journey for me and my family seems to be far from over as every day my heart sinks as I learn new & devastating ways this virus has more battles for Derek to fight.

"But he is still HERE & so there is still hope."

And now, speaking about Kate and Derek on GMB, an emotional Ben said: "We are sending love to Kate, Derek, Darcey and Billy and to all of you out there who are still fighting and waiting and desperately hoping that your loved ones are going to be coming home."

Ben's co-presenter Ranvir Singh added: "We movingly and openly said the NHS are keeping Derek alive. Hope has to keep us all going."

Viewers were quick to react. One tweeted: "Very best wishes to you and your family Kate," and another posted: "Keep strong, everyone is praying for Derek and you all.. Lots of love."
