Robinhood to strengthen its offering
Gupta joins at a time when a wave of interest has come to the trading markets as the coronavirus pandemic has brought volatility well and truly back into the markets. According to Robinhood, interest in investing has reached historic levels in recent months, and the company is focusing on supporting its clients during this time.
As the VP of Engineering, Gupta will help the stock trading company grow its engineering team as Robinhood prepares to roll out new features such as fractional shares and improve its existing offering.
As Finance Magnates reported, in March, Robinhood suffered from a system-wide outage that prohibited its clients from being able to access their accounts, leaving its users furious.
There were a couple of theories floating around as to what caused the crash – a Leap Day bug, high trading volumes, and others were all pointed to as the reasons. However, the company revealed that it was due to stress on its infrastructure due to high trading volumes.
Gupta joins Robinhood from Airbnb, where she most recently held the position of Director of Engineering. In this role, she led Airbnb’s Homes engineering team. Before this, she worked at Google.
