Acura Relaunches Type S Line With New TLX for 2021

Acura fans will be delighted to learn that aside from unveiling the newest TLX for 2021, the Japanese automaker has brought back its Type S performance line, offering a more premium version of the sport sedan in the near future.
As the first all-wheel drive in the Type S lineup’s history, the upgraded version of the new TLX will carry a 3.0-L V6 engine equipped with a dual scroll turbocharger and working in tandem with a 10-speed automatic transmission, a clear step up from the 2.0-L turbo which itself already pushes out 272 horsepower and 280 pound-feet of torque. Other information regarding the specs of the Type S remain scarce, but we do know certain details relating to the driving experience offered by the interior of the sedan. The design is one that balances a focus on the driver and luxury comfort, using materials such as full-grain Milano leather paired with open-pore wood. Tech options come in the form of a True Touchpad Interface system via a 10.2-inch HD display, a secondary seven-inch Multi-Information Display controlled via analog gauges, a 10.5-inch full color head-up display unit, and a standard AcuraWatch safety and driver-assist systems. For those with an affinity to music, an Acura ELD Studio 3D audio system also comes as an optional upgrade.
Acura’s standard TLX sport sedan will arrive at dealerships some time this fall, with the Type S following in spring next year. Prices will be within the $30,000 USD range. To learn more, head over to Acura’s website.
