Strawberries in red wine recipe

Breton strawberries in wine syrup, or Fraises Mam Goz, is a simple but beautiful dessert for summer.

Prep time: 5 minutes, plus 30 minutes to 2 hours to marinate | Cooking time: 10 minutes

METHOD

  1. Put the red wine and sugar into a saucepan with 150ml water and bring to the boil, stirring a little to help the sugar dissolve. Boil for seven minutes. Leave to cool completely and add the orange flower water.
  2. Pour the syrup over the strawberries and set aside for anything from half an hour to two hours – don’t leave them overnight as they soften too much. Serve with crème fraîche.
