Reports of a radical EFL plan have emerged - and Leeds United fans are furious.

Leeds, along with West Brom are well set for a return to the Premier League, with the two clear of the chasing pack at the top of the Championship.

Marcelo Bielsa's side moved to the top of the table before the coronavirus suspension threatened to curtail the season completely.

League bosses have always maintained their commitment to restarting fixtures when safe to do so, with Albion and Leeds both making it clear they would rather win promotion on the pitch.

And the prospect of fixtures resuming moved a step closer on Thursday, with the 20 Premier League clubs unanimously voting for the season to restart in the middle of June.

Championship clubs are set to vote next week, with a points-per-game resolution set to be used in the event the campaign doesn't continue.

But, according to a report in The Times, even if the Championship season does resume, games involving the Baggies and the Whites could be played at neutral venues.

The report states that the authorities are concerned about a number of matches that might lead to fans congregating outside stadiums in breach of social-distancing guidelines.

As well as Liverpool games in the top-flight, West Brom and Leeds matches could be moved across the country in order to satisfy any concerns.

Clubs will take guidance from the police and the Sports Ground Safety Authority, but there is a scenario where the two lose their home advantage and Leeds fans on social media are not happy:

@JezEMondo: How's there any risk when there's no fans.

@JohnMJtJt1919: There’s too much at stake , can’t have different rules for different teams. Totally unfair !!

@Matthewrburch: This is a real issue. I know Leeds & West Brom are several points clear but for those to 2 teams to play home games at neutral venues & away games, away isn’t reasonable. It’s ridiculous to penalise a team because they have passionate fans!

@GetReal13695965: My god this is so easy to police. If fans come to the stadium then the home team is penalised. Home fans will self police this.

@pbarnard1961: It's one rule for all or nothing. Despite BCD home advantage is still home advantage... pitch size, surroundings etc.....ludicrous to suggest a handful don't get that for the remaining games

@OliverMedd7: How unfair is that? Leeds having to play at neutral venues but Fulham forest etc get to play at home? No chance surely

@GillardGlyn: Either all neutral grounds or none.

@NorthernLifer: Not fair @efl Home teams are in familiar surroundings, familiar dressing rooms all with familiar routines on match day. Why should #lufc and #wba play all their remaining games away from home? Should be the same rule for all if #sportingintegrity is really paramount.

@Rsetliffe: Shouldn’t it be same for everyone, is this the EFL way to keep Leeds in the championship again hmmm
