Telangana CM KCR inaugurates Markook pump house releasing water into Kondapochamma Sagar reservoir in Siddipet
Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao on Friday inaugurated the Markook pump house releasing the Godavari water into 15 tmc capacity Kondapochamma Sagar reservoir, a yet another milestone in the multi-stage Kaleshwaram Lift Irrigation Scheme (KLIS).
The pump house was inaugurated amid vedic chants after the Sudarshana yagam in the presence of Tridandi Chinna Jeeyar Swamy. The Chief Minister's dream of irrigating lakhs of acres by lifting the water from an altitude of half-kilometre has been fulfilled. The water reached into the Kondapochamma Sagar reservoir as soon as the CM switched on the pump house.
Minister Harish Rao, Nirajan Reddy, Indrakaran Reddy, MP Kotha Prabhakar Reddy, Rajya Sabha member Santosh Kumar participated in the launch event.
Kondapochamma Sagar reservoir is located at the Markook mandal of Siddipet district and constructed at a cost of Rs 1,668.55 crore. The full reservoir has a water spread area of 17.027 sq km and the water level is 618 m. The reservoir provides irrigates 2,85,280 acres of ayacut through 13 canals.
