Molly-Mae Hague and Tommy Fury spark outrage by shipping Pomeranian from Russia
by Lily Waddell, https://www.mirror.co.uk/authors/lily-waddell/Molly-Mae Hague and Tommy Fury caused uproar as they imported their dog from Russia.
Delays meant the Pomeranian - who they have called Mr Chai - arrived days after the Love Island star's 21st birthday amid the raging coronavirus pandemic.
Anger was building up on social media when fans learned the fluffy creature had come all the way from Russia.
Their admirers called the decision to import the dog into question because Pomeranian dogs remain widely available in the UK.
Leading the troops, one fan wrote: "Are you realllllly telling me that Tommy Fury thought its was necessary to get Molly Mae a puppy from Russia, for it to be a Pomeranian, a breed widely available in the UK, without the dog having to suffer from all the travel laughable."
Outbursts erupted across social media once fans discovered the dog's origin.
Molly-Mae opened up about where Tommy had got their dog from as followers were left puzzled why it had taken so long for the pooch to arrive.
She said: "He was meant to be here on my birthday btw guys but he's coming from Russia so there was delay etc..."
Fans failed to understand why the couple had their dog shipped from another country amid the pandemic.
Others added: "Wait Molly Mae is having a puppy shipped to her from Russia? There’s literally so many dogs sat in adoption centres and they choose to get a dog shipped from another country wtf is that about?"
"Can't believe molly mae got a puppy shipped from russia when there are hundreds of dogs in rescue centres waiting to be adopted..... bad form man."
"Feel so sorry for Molly Mae’s dog. Did they really have to get one shipped over from Russia? Terrified without its mum? To then be put into some strange house and into a little cornered off section in their house? they don’t really have the time or knowledge to look after it."
The Mirror approached Molly-Mae Hague's representatives for further comment.
Mr Chai was one of Molly-Mae's main birthday presents from her other half Tommy.
His designer carry-on case and food was laid out among her pile of gifts but the dog was yet to arrive.
Molly-Mae was overwhelmed with love when she first held her pooch in her arms.
The Love Island bombshell has been drizzling her account with many photographs of her new puppy.
