A heartbroken couple said their dreams have been shattered after their new campervan home was stolen.

The pair had spent thousands of pounds doing up the Mercedes Sprinter and intended to travel around the UK for a year in their new home once lockdown was lifted.

But those plans were snatched from them as thieves moved in during the early hours of the morning and took their pride and joy from outside their house.

The incident happened between 9.30pm on Tuesday, May 26 and 7am on Wednesday, May 27 in Egerton Road in Woodthorpe.

Adam Morgan, 33, and his girlfriend, Eve Slade, 24, had moved into her parents' home while they worked on the campervan.

Both work in finance, and had ploughed £6,000 into buying the van and up to £5,000 on converting the interior with a bed area, kitchen, electricity and floor boards.

Mr Morgan said: "We were in the middle of building a shower and were about three weeks away from finishing. When the lockdown was lifted we planned to go around the UK.

"A lot of money and time has gone into this and we are devastated. We planned to live in it. It was going to be our small home for a year.

"We are both contractors so we can work anywhere in the UK. We were going to live in it while we worked. It has messed up all of that.

"Now it has been stolen it has put us back to square one; not just the financial loss and emotional side, but it is the extra strain on my girlfriend's parents.

"It has thrown all our plans."
