Triple murder case: High drama outside Tejashwi Yadav’s home as police say no to Gopalganj visit

RJD leader Tejashwi Yadav left his Patna residence on Friday to meet kin of victims in Gopalganj case. The RJD leader was, however, stopped by the police for violating lockdown.

High drama was witnessed outside the Patna residence of Tejashwi Yadav on Friday morning after the RJD leader left his home to meet kin of victims in the Gopalganj triple murder case.

The Bihar Police stopped the RJD leader for violating lockdown while scores of supporters stood outside Tejashwi Yadav’s residence, in violation of social distancing norms.

“There is no house arrest order against me. Lockdown is only for MLAs while criminals are allowed to move freely,” Tejaswi Yadav said as he waited in his vehicle outside his home.

The Rapid Action Force, meanwhile, remains deployed outside Yadav’s house as his supporters raised slogans against the government

Strict security arrangements were put in place by the Bihar Police after Tejaswi Yadav on Thursday announced that he will travel to Gopalganj in the triple murder case.

Tejashwi Yadav had on Tuesday set a two-day deadline for the Bihar government for taking action in the shooting case, failing which the RJD leader said a march will be taken out from Patna to Gopalganj.

The RJD leader had demanded action against JD(U) MLA Amrendra Kumar Pandey alias Pappu Pandey for his alleged involvement in the firing in which three people were killed and an RJD activist sustained injuries.

Tejashwi Yadav had said attacks on party leaders will not be tolerated while stating that it was shame for Nitish Kumar-led government in Bihar that crimes were taking place in broad daylight.

Giving two-day ultimatum to the Bihar government, Tejashwi Yadav had said, “Nitish ji says he will not compromise on law and order. The RJD leader who was shot is taking names of Amrendra Pandey and Satish Pandey but no arrest is being made. We give two-day time to the government, if the JDU MLA won't get arrested then we will march from Patna to Gopalganj.”
