Emotional Ben Shephard 'sends love' to Kate Garraway after she was pictured crying
by Rose Hill, https://www.mirror.co.uk/authors/rose-hill/Ben Shephard and Ranvir Singh sent their love to co-star Kate Garraway on Good Morning Britain today after she was pictured crying during Thursday's Clap for Carers.
Yesterday, the organiser behind the weekly event, Annemarie Plas, called for last night's clap to be the final one as she wanted it to "go out with a bang".
Ranvir recalled the noise being "much louder" last night as Ben responded that there was a "real celebration" last night.
Ben went on to say that he was able to update viewers on Kate's situation and read out her message on Instagram from last night.
She wrote: "Hear this might be the last clap for carers so Billy thought we should get the drums out to go out in style!
"It's been such a source of weekly comfort for them & me & I must admit I felt the tears come tonight to think it’s coming to an end before Derek’s ordeal with us...
"But whether we clap or not next Thursday my eternal thanks to all in the NHS goes on.
"They are keeping Derek alive & everyone of them is fighting as hard as Derek is to give us the chance to be reunited."
Ranvir responded: "Hope has to keep us all going, doesn't it?
"And having to find new ways, as she said, to stay strong for Darcey and Billy, as you saw there in that video as she knows she would have wanted Derek for her to do."
Ben continued: "She goes on to say, 'It's not easy when I think of how hard Derek is fighting and the bravery of all in the NHS helps. Thanks so much for all your messages and thanks for sharing on club Garraway.com. Standing together and learning from each other has to get us all through.'
"So we are sending love, obviously, to Kate, Derek, Darcey and Bill and to all of you out there that are still fighting, waiting and desperately helping."
