Robbie Keane 'floored Edgar Davids with one punch' during Tottenham training

by

Jamie O'Hara has lifted the lid on a training ground bust-up which saw Robbie Keane floor Edgar Davids with one punch.

The trio were at Tottenham together from 2005-07 after Davids arrived from Inter Milan.

Keane was already a senior figure in the dressing room at White Hart Lane when the Dutchman rocked up in north London.

And despite Davids' impressive football CV, Keane did not stand for any of the midfielder's superstar behaviour.

"I tell you who had a bit about him – Robbie Keane," O'Hara recalled to talkSPORT. "I remember a story with him and Edgar Davids and I hope he don't mind me saying this.

“We were at training and Edgar Davids came in from Inter Milan and he thought he was the bee’s knees.

"He thought he was the guy and the main man and everything, but everyone realised Robbie Keane was the main guy at Tottenham at that time.

"I remember him giving it to Keano in training and they were having a barney, and I think he tried to step to Robbie Keane and say something – and Keano just sparked him, bosh!"

The incident occurred in December 2005, and the pair had to publicly apologise at the time, though the details of what happened were largely kept quiet.

Davids had been a key player for a number of elite sides, from Milan to Ajax, Barcelona and Juventus, but it was Keane who had the final say.

“He just went, bang – one punch. Gone," O'Hara added.

“Then Davids has just picked himself up and walked off – and that was it. He came in the next day like, ‘morning, Robbie…’

“He knew – no-one messed with Keano. He had that Irish thing about him that if he switched he would put you straight out.”
