Frenkie de Jong to help Barcelona sign their biggest target

Barcelona target Matthijs de Ligt has been tipped to join Camp Nou one day with Frenkie de Jong now aiding the Catalans to make it happen.

The Spanish giants have been known to want De Ligt as one of their most desired transfers as they continue to search for the perfect center-back to replace aging Gerard Pique. One of Barca’s future stars, Frenkie De Jong, has been regarded by many to define the Barca midfield for years to come.

The Dutch International has been deeply integrated into the Barca future project and will now work with the club to ensure the signing of De Ligt in the near future. The pair were involved with Ajax’s greatest success in recent history after managing to reach the semi-finals of the Champions League after beating the likes of Real Madrid and Juventus. De Jong and De Ligt were also named the Champions League-best midfielder and the Champions League-best defender respectively.

Recently Juventus had enquired about the possibility of including Frankie in the Miralem Pjanic deal which was easily rejected by the Catalans after quoting that the Dutch international is not for sale. Juventus did the same for Matthijs despite his difficulty adjusting to Serie A thus far.

Sport via Calciomercato reports that De Jong and Barca have a private operation that involves the midfielder trying to persuade his countryman to join the Nou Camp. If their plan is proved to be successful, it will resolve Barca’s defensive issues for years to come.
