You Can Find COVID-19 Cases Within 1KM Radius Of Yourself With MOH's New Tracking App

The app will classify areas into red, yellow, or green zones based on cases reported in your location in the past 28 days.

The Ministry of Health (MOH) is encouraging the public to download their COVID-19 tracker, the MySejahtera app

During the COVID-19 press conference on Thursday, 28 May, Health director-general Datuk Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah urged Malaysians to use the app provided by the MOH to monitor the outbreak as well as assess their health condition online.

The app comes with a 'Hotspot Tracker' feature which, according to New Straits Times, was made to help the public plan their commute and avoid non-essential travel to high-risk areas.

"This is in line with the self-empowerment of Malaysians in adjusting to the new norms in daily life," Dr Noor Hisham said.

"The public needs to take care of themselves, their families, and the community around them to ensure that they are free from the virus."

The app allows users to check if there are COVID-19 cases within a 1km radius of their location

The public will also be able to search for other high-risk areas they should avoid.

Areas are classified into red, yellow, or green zones based on cases that were reported in the searched location in the past 28 days.

Among its many other functions, the app also allows users to conduct self-assessments to determine if they need to be tested for COVID-19.

Dr Noor Hisham said this would help the MOH with detection of new infections and obtain early information for prompt action.

The app also provides information on nearest COVID-19 screening facilities and health information from the ministry's Crisis Preparedness and Response Centre.

Dr Noor Hisham said the MOH will also introduce a QR code feature in the app to help people enter public places more easily

People will be able to enter places by just checking in on the MySejahtera app without having to write down their details upon entering places such as shopping malls and restaurants.

"We will use QR codes beginning 1 June, so there is no need to use a pen to write your name anymore. We will upgrade the application from time to time," said Dr Noor Hisham, as quoted by Malaysiakini.

He added that, as of yesterday, 28 May, a total of 752,711 individuals have downloaded the application

Of the number, he said there are currently 4,565 persons under surveillance (PUS) registered in the app, as well as 1,869 persons under investigation (PUI).
