Staff test positive for corona : Southern Railway closes headquarters for 2 days
by NT BureauChennai: The Southern Railway has announced that the office of its headquarters in the city would be closed here two days following reports that some officers and staff members have tested positive for coronavirus.
The headquarters, housing the offices of the Southern Railway General Manager, Additional General Manager and Principal Heads of Departments, would be closed for two days (today and tomorrow) to disinfect the premises, according to a note issued by the Deputy Chief Personal Officer.
After the two-day holiday and the weekend, the office would open on Monday. The offices opened with initially 33 per cent staff as per the guidelines of the Union government, which was enhanced to 50 per cent later.
Though the Southern Railway management has adopted all safety measures like wearing of face masks, use of hand sanitisers and spreading of disinfectants, some officers/employees have tested positive.
