Sanaya Irani Opens Up On TV Actors’ Non-Payment Of Dues: “One Person Passes The Buck…”

The lockdown has affected TV artists a lot. As there’s no shooting going on, some of them aren’t given any pay for their work. Sanaya Irani has now lent her voice in support of these actors and workers who have worked in the TV industry for years but haven’t been paid their dues.

Recently, the TV industry was shocked when actor Manmeet Grewal committed suicide this month due to financial crisis. The cast of Hamari Bahu Silk revealed that the producers haven’t paid them since last year. Sanaya Irani talked about how this isn’t the first time actors aren’t paid.

The Miley Jab Hum Tum actress said, “I’ve not done TV in six years and I do remember during that time also, producers used to make up excuses that they will pay after three months because the channel will pay them after three months. It’s always blamed on the channel.”

“One person passes the buck to the other, but it is like you are eating into the poor people’s lives. I never had to wait for a long time because the producers I’ve worked with were very nice and I was very professional about these things,” said Sanaya Irani.

The actress added that if one doesn’t get their money in three months, they have to raise their voice in the 4th month. They shouldn’t fear stigma or being thrown out of their shows. She understands that this is a tough time for everybody.
