Social Security Board compensates more than 26,000 workers affected by COVID-19

Yangon—Social Security Board has provided Ks around 560 million for more than 26,000 workers who faced temporary suspension of work due to the COVID-19, according to the Ministry of Labour, Immigration and Population.

The Ministry of Health and Sports has directed factories, plants and businesses to follow the restrictions and suggestions issued for the prevention and control of COVID-19. 

Since 20 April, the joint teams have started inspecting whether the factories, plants and worksites meet the standards set for the reopening. 

The social security board contributes 40 per cent of salaries for the workers who have to face temporary suspension during the inspection period.

Till 24 May, the social security board has provided a social security fund of Ks around 560 million for 26,305 workers from 156 factories, plants and worksites.
