Lyric Theatre of Oklahoma hosting live-stream premiere of Broadway musical 'Allegiance' starring George Takei and Lea Salonga

Lyric Theatre of Oklahoma is inviting its patrons to join in the live-stream premiere of the Broadway musical "Allegiance," starring George Takei, Lea Salonga and Telly Leung, on Broadway On Demand.
Starting at 6:30 p.m. Friday, theater lovers can stream the live pre-show event “A Toast to Allegiance” with the original Broadway cast, followed by the 7 p.m. opening night streaming premiere.
The cost is $14.99. The price includes the live stream of the show, additional never-before-seen footage, a free digital download of the original cast album and a 48-hour playback after the event.
In partnership with Broadway On Demand, Lyric Theatre of Oklahoma will receive 25% of every ticket sold as a donation. When ordering, patrons can simply enter the code LTOALL20 and a portion of their purchase will be credited to the nonprofit Oklahoma City theater.

"Allegiance" is a new musical inspired by true story: Set during the Japanese American internment of World War II and inspired by Takei's personal experiences of Takei, "Allegiance" follows the Kimura family in the years following the attack on Pearl Harbor, as they are forced to leave their farm in Salinas, Calif., and are sent to the Heart Mountain Relocation Center in the rural plains of Wyoming.
As previously reported, Lyric Theatre of Oklahoma laid off more than half of its full-time employees Friday, cutting its staff from 24 people to nine, as central Oklahoma's top professional theater continues to grapple with the coronavirus pandemic.
As also previously reported, the venerable nonprofit theater announced last month that it was postponing all remaining shows on its 2020 subscription season to 2021 due to the pandemic.
