Fortnite Chapter 2 Season 3 delayed by a week

Epic pushes the next season out by a week, but an interim event should tide you over

by

Epic Games has announced that the third season of Fortnite Chapter 2 will be pushed back a week and will now launch on Thursday 11 June.

In the meantime, the company said a “one-time-only” event called The Device will go down on Saturday 6 June at 2pm ET and advised to log in half an hour early to reserve one of the limited spaces (though it didn’t disclose how many, the tip was likely to help avoid sudden server overload).

It’s the first big event of its kind on Fortnite since the black hole event last year that famously purposefully took the whole game down for over a day.

Epic didn’t say exactly why the season has been delayed but it’s very likely that many of its employees are preparing the switch remotely as people continue to work from home during the coronavirus pandemic. This tweet (via The Verge) from Epic’s creative director says as much:

Fortnite has been pretty busy recently, even acting as a platform to premiere a trailer for Christopher Nolan’s upcoming film Tenet.
