Ava Carlyle and Esther McGregor have both paved the way for exciting new music projects.
by Beverley Lyons, https://www.dailyrecord.co.uk/authors/beverley-lyons/Their dads often came to blows as Begbie and Renton in Trainspotting.
But Ava Carlyle and Esther McGregor – teenage daughters of famous dads Robert Carlyle and Ewan McGregor – are hoping to steal the spotlight as they launch music careers.
Ava, 17, showcased her vocals on YouTube as she sang an acoustic rendition of Labrinth’s song Jealous.
She sat in her garden to record the video and looked comfortable as she played her guitar, telling subscribers: “Hope you like it.”
Her dad Robert was in a band when he was 16 and most recently sang the blues in film California Solo.
He later wrote on his Twitter account: “Many thanks for all your lovely messages about Ava C. She wants to thank you all and is absolutely chuffed to bits!”
Ewan’s daughter Esther, 18, has made music under the band name French Thyme with her musician friend Leo Major – putting out their song Fraise, Framboise via YouTube.
She also has an album in the pipeline.
Esther said of her new project: “We had so much fun making it and are psyched to finally release it.”
Ewan, who was the singing candelabra in Beauty and the Beast, has called Esther’s music “brilliant”.
