Miraculously, after just a few weeks she has recovered from the virus and celebrated with an ice-cold Bud Light beer.
"She always had a fighting spirit," granddaughter Shelley Gunn said. "She didn't give up," Gunn told the Wicked Local newspaper.
As well as being a beer drinker, Gunn said her grandmother is a "hardcore Boston sports fan" and is an avid supporter of the Red Sox baseball team.
"We're truly very thankful," Gunn told Wicked Local.
Stejna had two children with husband Teddy who died in the early '90s. She's now a grandmother of three, a great-grandmother of four, and even a great-great-grandmother of three, the newspaper said.
