New Zealand's most popular holiday home destinations for Queen's Birthday weekend

Thousands of Kiwis are planning to hit the road for the long-awaited long weekend and new data from an accommodation website has revealed the most searched regions and the most coveted holiday home in the country.

The Holiday Houses website, which is owned by Trade Me, says it has seen a massive increase in people searching for a place to spend their 2020 Queen's Birthday weekend.

"Interest in accommodation spiked over the last couple of weeks now that domestic travel restrictions have eased. Since May 12, the number of enquiries and bookings onsite increased by 50 percent, and from May 24 they've gone up another 50 percent," the company's spokesperson Aaron Clancy said.
