Jon Jones says Colby Covington has been ‘banished’ from American Top Team: Poor guy

by

Earlier this week it was confirmed that Colby Covington had left American Top Team (ATT) to set up his own team, Colby Covington Incorporated.

Covington confirmed the news after he was removed from ATT’s official website, but the former interim UFC welterweight champion is thought to have left the gym on good terms and, per his own words, still has a healthy relationship with ATT founder Dan Lambert.

According to Jon Jones, however, Covington was ‘banished’ by the people who knew him best.

“Poor Cov, banished from the people who got to know you best,” Jones, who used to be college roommates with Covington, posted on Twitter earlier today.

Covington had caused a rift with several teammates at ATT and made enemies of Jorge Masvidal, Dustin Poirier, and Joanna Jedrzejczyk. Lambert tried to enforce a ban on trash talk but that wasn’t enough to deter Covington, who frequently put the aforementioned teammates on blast in the media.

Covington also appears to have made an enemy of Jones, labelling his former roommate a ‘dirtbag’ and predicting that the reigning UFC light heavyweight champion will soon end up behind bars.
