Chhattisgarh's first Chief Minister Ajit Jogi passes away at 74

Chhattisgarh's first Chief Minister Ajit Pramod Kumar Jogi passed away this afternoon at the age of 74 years. He breathed his last at a private hospital in capital Raipur, where he was admitted after a cardiac arrest and subsequent swelling in brain on May 09.
 
Shri Jogi was MLA from Marwahi constituency. He became the first Chief Minister of Chhattisgarh in November, 2000, when the new state was formed. He remained as Chief Minister till December, 2003 when the congress lost power to BJP in state's maiden assembly elections.
 
About 4 years ago, Shri Jogi quit the Congress in June, 2016 and floated a new regional party Janta Congress Chhattisgarh. His party won 5 assembly seats in the last assembly elections held in the year 2018.
 
The Prime Minister, Shri Narendra Modi has condoled the demise of Former Chief Minister of Chhattisgarh, Shri Ajit Jogi. "Shri Ajit Jogi Ji was passionate about public service. This passion made him work hard as a bureaucrat and as a political leader. He strived to bring a positive change in the lives of the poor, especially tribal communities. Saddened by his demise.
