CM KCR heaps praise on KLIS project oustees
CM thanks migrant labourers, revenue, irrigation and power utility engineers who helped complete KLIS in record time
by TelanganaTodayHyderabad: Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao acknowledged the contributions made by project engineers, revenue officials and labourers in the construction of the complex Kaleshwaram Lift Irrigation Scheme, but he had special words of praise for the displaced persons who sacrificed their lands for the project.
Addressing the media at Kondapochamma Sagar project site on Friday, the Chief Minister expressed gratitude to all the oustees who lost their houses for the project. But for their sacrifices, it would not have been possible, he said.
“This is a historic moment and also a time to express my gratitude to all those involved in the project. The sacrifices of the oustees can’t be underscored,” the Chief Minister said. He pointed out that three villages were completely submerged under Kondapochamma Sagar.
“A 600-acre township comprising 6,000 houses is being constructed that will be as big as the existing Gajwel town and the government will see that employment is provided to eligible youth in the food processing SEZ coming up in Siddipet,” he said, adding that the food processing SEZ will be set up in a 200-acre area.He also thanked the migrant labourers, revenue, irrigation and power utility engineers and working agencies who worked hard to complete the reservoirs, barrages, surge pools, pump houses of the KLIS in record time.
Making a special mention of migrant workers from Rajasthan, West Bengal, Jharkhand and Bihar, the Chief Minister said they toiled even in hot summer and completed the projects on time. “We responded by arranging special trains to send the workers stranded due to the lockdown to their native places at a cost of Rs 12 crore, as a thanksgiving gesture,” he said.
He said that they were provided with cash and food items so that they can travel without any hassles. While commending the marvelous job done by the irrigation and electricity engineers, he said that their achievement must be an eye opener for those who made fun of Telangana’s ability to self-rule.
“The engineers have proved that they can take up any mission and complete it within the stipulated time better than anybody else. The engineers laid new electrical lines, synchronised giant pumps with the grid, pumped water to new heights above sea level,” he said thanking every single engineer of the KLIS project.
He thanked the Revenue Department for completing the land acquisition process by convincing the villagers. “We have been explaining that projects can’t be built in air. The people understood us,” he said. He thanked construction majors and all the working agencies that helped complete the project in record time.
