Hyderabad: The State universities will be conducting theory examinations for two hours instead of three hours. Accordingly, the question papers are being modified without losing standard yet covering the entire syllabus. To compensate for reduction in the duration of exam, more choice would be given in the question papers.

This apart, exams will be conducted for the final semester students of the UG and PG programmes including backlogs. However, exams for other semester students are likely to be held after reopening of the colleges or in November/December along with other semester main exams. There will be no detention system. However, students must write and clear whenever such examinations are conducted by the universities.

These are guidelines issued on Friday by the Telangana State Council of Higher Education on conduct of exams for the academic year 2019-20 after holding meetings with the State universities.

“In case of conventional UG programmes, exam can be held daily in two sessions, i.e. BCom in one session and BA and BSc in another session. Conduct of practical exams for these courses may be left to the colleges concerned,” it said, adding that theory exams are to commence around June 20.
