Video: Oklahoma Arts Institute virtual choir performs 'One Voice' featuring Kyle Dillingham and Peter Markes

by

The Oklahoma Arts Institute assembled a virtual choir that brings together its community members of all ages and from across the country to sing the Wailin’ Jennys soaring anthem “One Voice” while at home under shelter-in-place orders.

The participants — including alumni of the Summer Arts Institute, educators who participate in the nonprofit's programs and its other supporters — recorded themselves singing at home. Violinist Kyle Dillingham and guitarist Peter Markes, of the Oklahoma City band Horseshoe Road, performed as accompanists to the singers.

Those recordings and videos were re-composed and edited together to create a virtual choir performance that debuted today on the Oklahoma Arts Institute's social media. “One Voice” illustrates the power of coming together through the arts, as individual voices join one another to create a beautiful harmony.

Due to the coronavirus pandemic, the Oklahoma Arts Institute has scrapped its in-person 2020 Oklahoma Summer Arts Institute at Quartz Mountain for state high school students pursuing the arts. Instead, OSAI At Home is planned for June 14-19.
