Valley records one more COVID-19 death

SRINAGAR, May 28: Jammu and Kashmir recorded 27th COVID-19 death as 65-years-old man from Khanpora area in north Kashmir’s Baramulla district became the fresh victim of deadly virus, officials said today.
With the death of 65 years old COVID positive patient from Baramulla, the toll climbed to 27 in Jammu and Kashmir including 24 from the valley and 03 from Jammu province.
Srinagar district has recorded highest number of fatalities at 07 followed by Baramulla (05), Anantnag and Kulgam (4 each); Budgam and Jammu (02 each), Bandipora and Udhampur recorded (01 death each).
Officials said the deceased was initially admitted at Government Medical College (GMC) hospital Baramulla and was referred to Sri Maharaja Hari Singh (SMHS) hospital here on 27th of this month with fever and respiratory problem.
They further said the sample of the 65-years-old patient, now deceased, was taken for testing which turned out to be positive.
Dr Saleem Khan, Nodal Officer for COVID-19 at GMC Srinagar while confirming the death of Baramulla man said he expired immediately after being admitted at SMHS hospital.
“Deceased was admitted at GMC Baramulla wherefrom he was referred to SMHS hospital on Wednesday with fever and respiratory problem. He however died instantly after being admitted in the hospital and his swab tests also turned out to be positive for COVID-19,” Dr Saleem added.
Pertinent to mention that two deaths were recorded in the valley on Wednesday including a 70-year-old man from Sarnal Anantnag who died at GMC Anantnag and report came out positive posthumously and a 55-year-old resident of Fateh Kadal Srinagar who had tested positive earlier this month died of cardiac arrest at CD hospital here.
