7 cops test positive for Coronavirus in Magam

SRINAGAR, May 28: Seven policemen of Magam police station have tested positive for Covid-19 infection.
Deputy superintendent of police Magam, Showkat Ahmed told a local news agency, KNT that on May 21, samples of 12 policemen from police station Magam were lifted and yesterday out of those 12 policemen seven were tested positive.
“Cops tested positive were shifted to JVC SKIMS Bemina while all the primary and secondary contacts of these policemen were traced and quarantined.”
SDPO Magam said 207 contacts of these infected policemen have been traced. “Primary contacts have been quarantined at Degree College Magam while secondary contacts are put in quarantine at police station Magam,” he said.
“The samples of all the contacts of the infected policemen have been collected and report will hopefully arrive on Friday evening,” deputy superintendent of police Magam, Showkat Ahmed said.
Earlier, a news agency quoting officials had reported that Magam police station was sealed due to coronavirus cases. But Budgam police denied the report about sealing of the police station and threatened legal action against those circulating the news. The police, however, added that the cops tested positive for coronavirus and necessary steps are being taken in this direction.
